Cleveland Job Corps Ceelbrating the Life and Legacy of Dr. King

On January 19, 2014, student volunteers from the Cleveland Job Corps Center (CJCC) assisted the Cleveland Chapter of the NAACP in relocating to their new facility as part of National Service Day. The Cleveland Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) was established in 1912, their mission is to ensure the political educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination. Over the years, the Cleveland Branch of the NAACP has offered several programs and services to individuals within the community that need their assistance. The students spent the day breaking down, moving and setting up from the former NAACP offices to their new location. NAACP Ecivitive Director Sheila Wright and Eric Johnson, Government Relations Specialist for the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority/NAACP Executive Committee members were impressed with our students’ work and eithics and willingness to learn. Ms. Wright provided the students with an overview of the Cleveland Chapter of the NAACP and showed them photographs of past and present Cleveland NAACP members and Civic leaders. Our student volunteers were invited to attend the NAACP’s Open House for their new headquarters scheduled in late February.
