Cleveland Job Corps Center – The McGregor Home

Cleveland Job Corps Center (CJCC) State Tested
Nursing Assistant’s (STNA) Instructor, Carla Widener,
is no newbie when it comes to helping others;
so when the call came in July 17th for assistance,
she quickly rose to the occasion. Ms. Widener enlisted
STNA student’s Latina Williams, Brandon
Foster, Zairyianna Jackson, Caaltum Ahmed and
Antionette Pettaway to volunteer their services at
the McGregor Home’s Jazz Concert scheduled
within hours of the call. The students transported the residents to the area for the concert,
assisted the residents during the concert, and returned resident’s to their rooms
after the event was over. Students had an opportunity to enjoy the smooth sounds of
the “TOPS Jazz Band” with the residents.
The CJCC STNA program students have been volunteering at the McGregor
Home for two years. The McGregor Home is a non-profit assisted living and retirement
facility located on a 32-acre historic estate. With over one hundred years of experience,
McGregor continues to support growth in the supply of affordable senior
housing in Northeast Ohio. McGregor is rated a Top 100 Facility by The U.S. News
& World Report, and is the recipient of a 5-Star Rating by the Centers for Medicaid/
Medicare. “All of our encounters at McGregor have been wonderful and our students
enjoy assisting at McGregor; it’s a great
place to volunteer and it gives them a
chance to demonstrate their skills. They
love it,” affirmed Carla Widener
