On February 3rd, 2014, a group of seven Student Government Association members from the Cleveland Job Corps Center along with the Center Director, the Business and Community Liaison, and the Student Government Advisor, participated in Groundhog Job Shadowing Day at Cleveland’s Fox-8 News Station. The Morning News team includes, Wayne Dawson, Kristi Capel, Todd Meany, Stephani Schaefer and Kenny Crumpton. Each took time out of their busy schedules to speak with the students about attendance, punctuality, and the importance of team work. The crew took pictures and answered questions for the students and staff of CJCC. Mr. Dawson took the students on an informal four-hour tour where he explained the field of journalism in today’s market place. He described how props are used to create the news studio, and gave a brief history lesson about the video camera’s evolution from the 1980’s to present day. During the tour, the students had a chance to listen to News Directors as they made decisions about what to air, and visited the master engineer room. The students and staff of CJCC would like to formally thank Mr. Dawson, and the Morning News team for going the extra mile.
