Cleveland Job Corps Honoring Our Veterans !

Veterans Day is a time to acknowledge soldiers who have, or are serving in the military. From November 7-10, 2017, the Cleveland Job Corps Center hosted a series of special events to honor veterans and active soldiers that included a luncheon, Military Fair, Wall of Pride and a Moment of Silence in recognition of fallen soldiers.

On November 7, 2017, the Center held an appreciation luncheon to recognize veteran employees: Deputy Director, Joe Pearson (Air Force – Senior Master Sargent); Systems Administrator, Kenneth Hardy (Army – Light Weapon Expert Combat); Maintenance Technician, Elliott Lilly (Army – Communications Specialist); Medical Office Support, David Diaz (Army – Truck Driver); Finance Clerk, Olivia Doughty (Navy – Petty Officer Second Class); Residential Living Supervisor, Sabrina Cottrell (Army – Administration); Mental Health Consultant, Dr. Hugh Turner (Army – Combat Intelligence); and Production Manager, Naisha Herrmann (Air Force – Food Service and Recreation). Each veteran was given a Certificate of Appreciation, a gift, and were served a delicious steak lunch.

Representatives from the Navy, Marines, Army, National Guard, and Coast Guard participated in the Center’s Military Recruiting Fair on November 8, 2017. Students visited booths, viewed exhibits, participated in fitness exercise and drills. They also conversed and received information about the Armed Forces.

Students and staff visited the Education Office on November 9, 2017, to place the names of active, veteran military relatives, and friends on the “Wall of Pride.”

Center students and staff observed a campus-wide “Moment of Silence,” to acknowledge active military personnel, and veterans on November 10, 2017.
