Cleveland Job Corps January 2018 Commencement Ceremony

February 12th, 2018

The Cleveland Job Corps Center’s Recreation Center was filled with Bulldog pride as over six hundred people packed the Center for the January 2018 Commencement Ceremony on Friday, January 19th. Parents, siblings, relatives, friends and academic instructors took photos, recorded video, and cheered as eighty graduates walked off the stage and into the next chapter of their lives.

“Always begin with the end in mind,” Cleveland Job Corps Center Director, William Houston challenged graduates in his opening remarks. “Do not stop here, this is just a stepping stone, continue your education and reach for the stars.”

Keynote Speaker Ohio State District 11 Representative, Stephanie Howse is a huge supporter of education. She pressed the imperativeness for the graduates to continue their education and discussed the 3 P’s – Purpose, Progress, and Prosperity. Representative Howse wrapped up her speech with a dedication to work hard to promote Job Corps’ students and programs before wishing all the graduates a future filled with success.

Students and staff have worked to overcome many obstacles to get here and their level of excitement was unprecedented. “For some of our students, they will be the first in their family to receive a High School Diploma,” expressed Cleveland Job Corps Academic Manager, Cindy Steinel. “This is an awesome feeling. I have waited for this day for years and I’m so excited to have my family here with me,” Cleveland Job Corps Carpentry graduate, Scottie W.

Deputy Center Director, Anthony Bolden wrapped up the ceremony by confirming the graduates and congratulating them on opening another door of opportunity!

While today we may mark the end of one chapter for Cleveland Job Corps graduates, it is also a brand-new chapter waiting to be written. THANK YOU…to all the instructors, staff, and others who’ve helped each graduate on the road to success. We commend all of you for supporting ALL our students! CONGRATULATIONS TO THE JANUARY 2018 GRADUATING CLASS OF THE CLEVELAND JOB CORPS CENTER!
