Cleveland Job Corps Making Seasons Bright

The holiday spirit is certainly in the air at the Cleveland Job Corps Center, as the 8th Annual Toy Drive was a huge success. During the months of November and December, Cleveland Job Corps staff could dress down each Friday by donating $5 or a toy of equal value. Thanks to their generosity, the center was able to donate toys to the Alianna DeFreeze Let’s Make a Change Foundation’s 4th Annual Toy Drive as well as give hats, gloves, books, and games to twenty-seven children.

In January of 2017, fourteen-year-old Alianna DeFreeze was kidnapped and killed on her way to school. The Alianna DeFreeze Foundation stands to protect children while guiding them to a positive, educational future. Its main focal points are to provide safe route transportation to school children and demolish abandoned houses. Additionally, on December 11, 2019, Cleveland Police Department Chief Calvin Williams and Cleveland 5th District Police Department Commander Sammy Morris along with two officers delivered bags of toys to Cleveland Job Corps students with children.

Thank you to the staff of the Cleveland Job Corps Center, Cleveland Police Department, and the Fifth District Police Department. We also want to take a moment to recognize Cleveland Job Corps Testing Coordinator, Sandra Talley who supervised the toy drive this year along with Cleveland Job Corps student volunteers: Juuaun Pinson, Daviyana Mitchell, Tahuna Garel, Cierra Jones, and Tyechia Mitchell. Each of you helped make the season bright for several children and their families!

Cleveland Job Corps Center wishes everyone a Happy Holiday Season and a safe and prosperous New Year!
