Cleveland Job Corps National Groundhog Day Job Shadowing

Forty-eight Cleveland Job Corps Center (CJCC) students participated in National Groundhog Job Shadow Day on February 2, 2016. Several Cleveland employers happily welcomed CJCC students and shared knowledge pertaining to their career area. CJCC students were able to connect the skills they learn in the classroom to those applied daily in their prospective vocational settings.

CJCC students job shadowing experiences included but was not limited to; Nursing, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) office, Receptionist, and Occupational Therapy. Students who shadowed at the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Center, met with Charles Modlin, MD, FACS, who is a Kidney Transplant Surgeon, Urologist and Founder and Director of the Minority Men’s Health Center of Cleveland Clinic’s Glickman Urological Institute and is Executive Director of Minority Health for Cleveland Clinic. Modlin, MD expressed how very impressed he was with our student’s attentiveness.

A special Thank You, to the following Cleveland employers: Visiting Nurse Association of Ohio, Roger Home, Stephanie Tubbs Jones Medical Center, Common Wealth Lumber, Eliza Bryant, University Manor, Bryant & Stratton, Spectrum Home Health Care, McGregor Nursing Home and Cleveland Clinic Foundation who hosted us and gave so freely of their time. The employers were so impressed with our student’s professionalism and eagerness to learn that they welcomed them back anytime to volunteer.
