Cleveland Job Corps Service to Others

In keeping with the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life and teachings of service to others on Saturday, January 20, 2018; Cleveland Job Corps students and staff volunteered at the Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity. Cleveland Job Corps Student Government Association Coordinator, Tiffany Artis. and Career Services Secretary, Bernette Milton and students Naudya R. (Bricklaying), Elijah R. (Carpentry), Maria M. (Medical Office Support) and Chandre G. (Private Security and Carpentry) volunteered for the 9:00 am -12:00 pm and 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm sessions.

They worked with other volunteers and Habitat staff performing various general construction tasks to rehabilitate a home for a deserving family. Students were able to utilize some of the skills they have learned in the classroom as they painted, cut baseboards, and assisted with electrical installations in crawls spaces and the basement.

At Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity, we strengthen communities, restore homes, revitalize local neighborhoods and invest in our neighbor’s quest to become a homeowner. With the support of over 170 sponsor teams, 70,000 volunteers, and other supporters in the past 29 years, we have been able to help make homeownership a possibility for more than 225 Habitat homeowners and over 800 children in Greater Cleveland.
