Before enrolling into the Cleveland Job Corps Jermaine attended John Adams High School where he was unable to pass the Ohio Graduation Test (OGT) in 2015. After leaving he lived with his family working summer jobs and looking for full time work became a challenge and he didn’t know what to do. He went to an orientation at Ohio Means Jobs which is a partner of ours through the Department of Labor and he was referred him to Job Corps. After meeting with an Outreach Admissions Counselor he liked what she said and decided to enroll and take a chance to get his high school diploma.

Quote to new student “Make sure you pay attention and do your work. Take in all the information because you are going to need it”.

Jermaine face some challenges, he had to learn how to work at a slower pace and focus. He contributes his success to his class mates, roommates and Ms. Carla Widner State Tested Nursing Instructor for motivating and encouraging him throughout the program. He liked being a resident meeting new people and all the opportunities that Job Corps offered for FREE.

Jermaine changed his plans after he enrolled, he came to Job Corps just to get his high school diploma then he went from wanting to take the carpentry trade to receiving his certification in Home Health Aide were he currently has a job working for Excel Home Health Care as a Home Health Aide. He doesn’t plan to further his education at this time, he just wants to work.
