After graduating from Euclid High School, Keyausha N. Jones worked various dead-end jobs. She enrolled in Belvoir Learning Center through Ohio Means Jobs, and earned a certification in computer technology. She still lacked the direction and the skills needed to gain employment within a profitable career to help her provide for her son. “I was running aimlessly in the streets being toxic and unproductive,” explained Keyausha.

Taking the advice of her cousin, Nyah Brown, who at the time was attending the Cleveland Job Corps Center, Keyausha decided to enroll in Job Corps. “I knew I needed to be here as a student; not only for myself, but also for the wellbeing of my son,” said Keyausha. With a new mindset and newly established goals, Keyausha went on to get her Home Health Aide, Serve Safe Food Handler, First Aid & CPR, and State Tested Nursing Assistant credentials. Keyausha stated that the persistent, guidance and encouragement she received from her Nursing Assistant Instructor, Jameka Bloom and Academic Instructor, Marvin Sims helped her stay on task. “It is a beautiful thing to see student’s hard work and dedication pay off in their favor and to watch their blessing flourish,” expressed Jameka Bloom

Keyausha volunteered at Eliza Bryant Village Nursing Facility, conducting daily activities for adult day services patrons who looked forward to her coming in. Her work ethics, time management, and interpersonal skills did not go unnoticed, as several of the staff and clients urged her to apply to Eliza Bryant Village. She applied, and a few days after her interview, Keyausha was offered employment as a Home Health Aide. Keyausha plans to continue her education and is currently researching schools that offer an Occupational Therapist Degree. “I’m so excited to embark on this new journey,” exclaimed Keyausha!
