Falling victim to an illness that kept her out of school most of her 12th grade year, Shanice Warren was not able to get her high school diploma. Upon exploring the Job Corps program Warren discovered that she could get her high school diploma, as well as, credentials in the health field.

During her time caring for her ill grandmother, Warren developed a passion for the healthcare field. Warren joined the Cleveland Job Corps “Family” in March 2016 and enrolled in the Nurse Aide trade. Nine months later, Warren obtained her high school diploma and Nurse Aide credentials.

She feels that her overall experience at the Cleveland Job Corps Center was great because she accomplished the goals she set out to obtain. “The Cleveland Job Corps Center helped me communicate with people and build meaningful relationships,” explained Warren. Her advice to students, “stay out of trouble and make sure you accomplish the goals you said you wanted to accomplish.”

After completing her Work Base Learning internship at Collinwood Academy, Warren was hired as a Home Health Aide. Warren plans to continue her education and wants to study Early Childhood Development and Psychology to fulfill her aspirations of becoming a school Psychologist.
