Cleveland Job Corps Student Success Story

Rochelle Williams
Age: 25
Hometown: Cleveland, OH
Center: Cleveland
Region: Chicago
Career Area: State Test Nursing Association
Job Corps Date: 5/22/17 – 4/18/18
Rochelle Williams is an exceptional young lady, whom unfortunately had to drop out of high school to care for her ailing mother. But as luck would have it, this unsung hero dis-covered the importance of caring for others and her true calling. Years later, Rochelle began looking for em-ployment but due to her not having a high school diploma she didn’t qualify. After viewing a commercial about Job Corps, she called to get more information.
She experienced a few obstacles as she tried to get acclimated to this new way of living, but with the help of supportive staff at the Cleveland Job Corps, Rochelle overcame her obstacles. Determined to reach her goals, Rochelle earned her High School Diploma from Penn Foster, in addition to obtaining Nursing Assistant, ServSafe, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid credentials in less than a year. “The mentoring and direction I received from the staff helped build my confidence, communication, and team working skills,” stated Rochelle. “I am so grateful.”
Rochelle is employed at Crawford Manor Nursing Home as a State Tested Nursing Assistant. She plans to attend Cuyahoga Community College (TRI-C) soon. “Stay humble, be respectful and take advantage of all the opportunities,” recommends Rochelle.
