Cleveland Job Corps Student Success Story

Aisia T. White is no newcomer to hard work, as a high school student from Ypsilanti, Michigan, Aisia was employed with two jobs. She worked as a patient attendant during the graveyard shift at a local hospital in Michigan, and on the weekends, she worked part-time in the foodservice industry. With an overwhelming and demanding schedule, Aisia needed a lifestyle change. Her sister Brittany White was enrolled in the Cleveland Job Corps Center at the time and urged Aisia to enroll in Job Corps alongside her to get her high school diploma and learn a trade in allied health.

On September 18, 2017, Aisia embarked on a new journey at the Cleveland Job Corps Center. She completed the Certified Nursing Assistant trade, earned her High School Diploma from Penn Foster, and obtained her ServSafe and Home Health Aide certifications. She also served as a member of the Peer Mentor program, as well as Fund Raising Director with the Student Government Association.

At the age of 19, Aisia decided she wanted to serve her country and enlisted in the Navy. On June 7, 2018, Aisia completed the Cleveland Job Corps program and returned home to spend time with her family. She leaves for basic training on October 30, 2018, at Great Lakes Naval Station with a Military Occupational Specialties as a Cryptologic Technician. “I plan to continue pursuing a Nursing career during my enlistment in the United States Navy,” stated Aisia.
