“There have been bumps in the road, but it’s okay, as long as you’re moving in the right direction,” expressed Cordell Lindsley. Before enrolling into Job Corps, Cordell was a 2014 high school graduate from Glenville High School. When he turned 19, Cordell decided to enroll into college to obtain a degree in international business. He was living with his mom and working at both Marshalls and Walmart. Unfortunately, it was hard for him to balance all three things and he ended up dropping out of Community College.

His sister Tamara Lindsley, a former State Tested Nursing Assistant student of Cleveland Job Corps convinced him that Job Corps was a great program, so he enrolled. Cordell obtained certifications in Clinical Medical Assistant, ServeSafe, First Aid, and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. He also participated in Tuesday’s Golf Club under the direction of Math Instructor Robert Levey. “I’ve grown in many ways especially trusting and believing in myself, and being patient was my biggest challenge,” stated Cordell.

Cordell is working at University Hospital as a Nutrition Service Assistant II and strives to advance in his new position. He plans to enroll in college to get his degree. Career Councilor, Racheal Cardona and Career Preparation Period/Medical Office Support Instructor, Carla Elam are just two of the people he mentioned that helped keep him going in the right direction (the list of staff keeps going). “Thank you to every staff member that helped me with my journey at Cleveland Job Corps.”
