Alana Ross acknowledges and takes full responsibility to her wrong doing that got her expelled from High School. Nevertheless, she’s determined to not let that stop her. Wanting to earn her High School diploma and to succeed in life, she began working on a course of action to help her achieve her goals. “Job Corps helped a few people I know find their light at the end of the tunnel,” stated Alana. “So, I decided to enroll in the Job Corps program too.”

While at Cleveland Job Corps, Alana’s determination helped her complete the Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide curriculum in just under a year. She performed hands on patient care under the supervision of her clinical instructor at Broadway Care Nursing Home. In addition to obtaining her High School Diploma from Penn Foster, First Aid/CPR certification, and passing the State Board National Nurse Aide Exam, Alana also volunteered at the Women’s Crisis Center organizing various storage rooms of donations.

With the assistance of Cleveland Job Corps Career Transition Readiness Coordinator, Jacqueline Clark, Alana was hired as a full-time state tested nurse aide at Singleton Home Care. Alana’s next step is to enroll in College to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a Register Nurse. “This has really been a wonderful experience,” expressed Alana. “Obtaining my high school diploma and becoming a STNA on my initial attempt, has been everything I imagined it to be.”
