Cleveland Jobcorps Graduation

Over 100 students, eagerly anticipated their chance to walk across the stage as the Cleveland Job Corps Center (CJCC), joined several other Job Corps centers across the county in celebrating   “Commencement Day” on January 29, 2016. Job Corps students all over the country were celebrated and commended for their achievements and commitment to strive for a better future. Family members, friends, students, community members, employer and Job Corps volunteers gathered in the CJCC recreation facility to celebrate the achievements of each student.

The commencement speaker was Cleveland native, Philipe “Philly” Weeden who is an Award Winning Author, Playwright, Screen Writer, and Keynote Speaker.  Weeden encouraged the graduates to continue to reach for their goal and not let anyone take them off their pathway to success. Weeden shared his story on dealing with the hardship of growing up in a low-income urban household, he discussed his determination to overcome his environment disparities and his climb to success.

Job Corps graduates have been employed by leading institutions and major corporations throughout the state of Ohio, particularly in the construction and medical fields. The CJCC is becoming one of the leading vocational training institution within the Cleveland Metropolitan area, and employers are seeking our students to enter into their skilled employment pool.
