CLEVELAND JOBCORPS STUDENT SUCCESS

Name: Darion Fore
Age: 22
Center: Cleveland Job Corps
Region: Chicago
Hometown: Cleveland, OH
Career Area: Carpentry
Dates in Job Corps: February 2016 – November 2016
After graduating from Berea High School in 2012, Darion Fore worked various warehouse jobs for four years. Mr. Fore came to Cleveland Job Corps in February to pursue his dream of working in construction when the company he was em-ployed at began laying people off. He discussed his plans with a few friends that happened to be former Job Corps students. They pointed him in the direction of the Cleveland Job Corps Center as an excellent way to get the training he needed.
Mr. Fore enrolled in the carpentry trade, after completing his career exploration shadowing of each trade. He quickly developed a bond with his instructors, Da-vid Lummus and Daniel Volpe and feels that they are top caliber instructors who would be successful teaching anywhere. “They are incredibly hands-on, interactive and teach inside and outside of the trade curriculum,” stated Mr. Fore. In addition to his regular curriculum, Mr. Fore enjoyed learning about siding, was involved in building a car port CTST project, worked on constructing a fence, and building an incentive store in the dorm. Mr. Fore also participated in the constructing of the Little Free Libraries community service project that pro-motes literacy.
Mr. Fore recently gained employment with JDT Construction LLC. He will be re-modeling homes and expand his construction skills. In five years, Mr. Fore sees himself working for the same company or working in the Carpenter’s union. His message to other students at Job Corps: “Get through it. If you stick to it, you can get it done, it’s possible.”
