Cleveland State University

May 29, 2014, Cleveland Job Corps student leaders visited Cleveland State University for a tour of the main building and to get a brief hands-on feel of campus life. The highlights of the tour were in the Michael Schwartz library which consisted of eight floors of one building, the multi-media room where students can prepare and rehearse presentations for up-coming projects, the writing lab for students to get assistance formulating a paper, even open to the public, the lecture hall, and the “Special Collections” room which housed original blueprints, including Terminal Tower, an old typewriter; circa 1910, historical sound recordings, landmark collections, old newspapers, etc.
Leaders then met in the Career Services Room for lunch and a presentation where they were briefed on the services provided to students that plan to attend the university in the future. The Career Services Department will provide individual career planning, resume writing tips, mock interviews and an overview of career courses. Mrs. Yolanda Burt shared a few parting words with the CJCC leaders about networking and making sure that they make and maintain solid connections. “The best thing you can do as young men and women is to be sure that you always stay positive. You have help all around you, people working for you. Work with us so we can do this together.” –Yolanda Burt
