Clevland Jobcorps Spotlight on Allied Health

Clevland Jobcorps Spotlight on Allied Health

We would like to introduce the newest member of The Career Technical Training Health Cluster Team, Jessica Welch, who joined the group in November. Ms. Welch will be the new Pharmacy Technician Instructor. She graduated in 2006, from the Cleveland Institute of Dental and Medical Assistants with a certification as a Pharmacy Technician. Ms. Welch then obtained an Associate of Ap-plied Science degree from Bryant & Stratton. She has been employed with the following companies: Cleveland Clinic, Kindred Healthcare and Medical Service Inc., as a Pharmacy Technician, IV Technician & Cytotoxic (Chemotherapy) Compounding Technician.
Although, this is her first instructional position, she has experience training students in internship positions with pharmaceutical agencies. “I can’t wait to show the students everything there is to know about being a Pharmacy Technician,” exclaimed Ms. Welch. “I hope they are just as excited as I am!” We hope that each of you will take a moment to provide a personal welcome to our new member in the Cleveland Job Corps family.
WORK BASED LEARNING
On July 6, 2015, nineteen year old Ronnika Drane took the journey from Dayton, Ohio, to the Cleve-land Job Corps Center to obtain training in the medi-cal field. Ms. Drane has her High School Diploma and is currently working to complete the Medical Assistant vocation. She began an internship with the Centers for Dialysis Care (CDC) on November 20, 2015. In the few short weeks that she has interned at the West 25th CDC location, she has already com-pleted 70 WBL hours and made quite an impression with the staff at the facility. “Ronnika is doing an amazing job with us, she has great technical skills and learns very quickly,” expressed CDC Facility Manager, Jan Pollock. “I wish that we could keep her longer.”
I enjoy going to the CDC; it is an awesome place to work. I get the opportunity to show what I’ve learned in Ms. Laureano’s class and learn new things in my field.
~ Ronnika Drane
