CLEVELAND JOB CORPS COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT “GLENVILLE BACK TO SCHOOL GIVEAWAY”

On August 13, 2015, the 5th Annual Glenville Community Back to School Giveaway was held at the Glenville Recreation Center located at 680 East 113th St., Cleveland, OH. The Back to School Giveaway is an event aimed towards assisting the Glenville youth and their parents with being prepared to be successful for the upcoming 2015-2016 academic school year. The celebration featured food, giveaways, music and enter-tainment for the entire family. The annual event attracted approximately 600 disadvantaged Glenville residents in need of school supplies for their school-aged children. Each school bag was stuffed with grade appropriate materials from the approved Cleveland Metropolitan School District supply list.
Fifteen Cleveland Job Corps Center (CJCC) students accompanied by CJCC Business Community Liaison, Ms. Harriet Hadley, CJCC Testing Coordinator, Ms. Sandra Tal-ley and Ms. Rose Houston, Corporate Media Relations, volunteered at the event. CJCC volunteer students facilitated the registration tables, assisted at the concession stands, stuffed and distributed school bags, as well as, cleaned-up. “I would like to personally say thank you to the Pearls and Distinguished Gentleman”, exclaimed Ms. Hadley. “They did an outstanding job!”
The 5th Annual Glenville Community Back to School Giveaway was presented by Cleveland Councilman Kevin Conwell and supported by the City of Cleveland 5th Dis-trict Police Department, the Famicos Foundation, Job Corps and Cleveland Council.
