CLEVELAND JOB CORPS VOLUNTEER’S FOR A NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME

Cleveland Job Corps Center (CJCC) Security Offic-ers, Belinda Bray and Zachary Bixler, escorted CJCC Safety Cadets volunteers to the 32nd Anni-versary of National Night Out, America’s Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday, August 4, 2015. The event, aimed at focusing on “Bridging the Gap” be-tween youth and seniors with a theme of “Healthy Safe Summer,” gave visitors a chance to come together as “One Cleveland” to help strengthen the community against crime. Local residents had an opportunity to socialize with city officials, visit booths of various community agencies and receive free health screenings. Cleveland Police Officers en-joyed a day of playing basketball with the youth and facilitating a bike rally for the younger children.
Progressive Action Council, The Word Church, and the CMHA Resident Services are just a few of the organizations that were in attendance. Dignitaries included the Mayor of Cleveland Frank Jackson, Ward 5 Councilwoman Phyllis Cleveland, and Cleveland Mu-nicipal Court Judge James A. Hewitt III.
The CJCC students volunteered to assist with the set up and break down of the event. Students also manned the CJCC booth distributing pamphlets and providing information to interested individuals. The CJCC was proud to volunteer and attend the event as a po-tential resource to young adults who may need assistance in attaining their goals.
