Detroit Job Corps Student goes to China

Detroit Job Corps Center student selected to represent the United States in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Youth Skills Camp in China.  APEC is the premier Asia-Pacific economic forum. Its primary goal is to support sustainable economic growth and prosperity in the Asian-Pacific region.

Elayna Tucker, age 20, Detroit Job Corps Center trainee was selected along with three other Job Corps students to represent the United States at the APEC Youth Skills Camp.   The camp took place August 9-19,2012. The Chinese Government paid all travel, lodging and program expenses.

The APEC Youth Skills Camp promotes and generates awareness of the importance of Career Technical Training and Skills Development to economies around the world.

Students will visit Beijing, Nanjing, Wuxi and Shanghai. The camp will include Youth Forum field visits to vocational colleges, enterprises, and public training facilities, in addition to skills demonstration among participants and cultural tours.
