Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr, (NJ-06) Hosts Edison Job Corps Student as Part of National Job Shadow Program

New Brunswick, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr’s District Office in New Brunswick today hosted a local student as part of the annual National Groundhog Job Shadow Day, which allows young people to shadow mentors in the workplace and experience hands-on-learning. Quintyia Buttram, who participates in a computer certification program through the Edison Job Corps, shadowed Congressman Pallone’s staff for the day to learn how a congressional district office operates and serves constituents.    “The National Groundhog Job Shadow Day provides students the opportunity to explore and engage in active work environments,” Pallone said.  “This program is essential to exposing students to diverse settings and experiences.  It is my hope that they will gain the confidence and knowledge needed to prepare for their future careers.”   Quintiya participated in several office activities including handling casework and responding to letters from constituents. She even had the opportunity to use her advanced computer skills to improve an online database.    Edison Job Corps is a no-cost education and career technical training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps young people ages 16 through 24 improve the quality of their lives through career technical and academic training.
