Job Corps Students Work With Gadsden-Etowah Habitat for Humanity

8.24.16 This week Ms. Jennifer James and our Carpentry students took a trip to work with volunteers for Gadsden-Etowah Habitat for Humanity. Gadsden-Etowah Habitat for Humanity partners with the Gadsden Job Corps Carpentry students to help a low income family to build affordable housing. Gadsden Job Corps students provided some labor with other volunteers, while individuals and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Job Corps students and a Partner Family invest hundreds of hours of labor, “sweat equity”, into building their home and the homes of others. Our students were met by Mr. Steve Scharfenberg, Project Manager of Habitat of Humanity, and he wanted our Carpentry students to paint the interior walls of the home. These students begin to use their skills. Several students painted the trim in rooms while others got a roller and painted the walls. Mr. Scharfenberg commended our students for a job well done!
