Congressman Francisco Canseco visit Gary Job Corps
Congressman Francisco “Quico” Canseco visited the Gary Job Corps Center and toured the 800 acre campus and visited the Welding, Machinist, Advanced Residential Advisor, and Medical Classrooms.  Kyle Mayor Lucy Johnson and San Marcos Chamber President Brian Bondy shared with the Congressman their partnerships with the Gary Center.  Congressman Canseco said  “what I have seen today, it is something that builds their self-respect that gives somebody the impetuous to move forward and to do  something and not just make it an 8 to 5 deal, and then just go home.  For what you do in developing the skills that are so needed today, to develop jobs and to develop the whole person.”   Further the Congressman stated “ I represent the 23rd District of Texas that goes from San Antonio to El Paso and stretch the border area.  Many people don’t have jobs or lost jobs, a program like Job Corps would help them get the self-respect and job skills to enter the workforce.”  Pictured are Congressman Canseco, Kyle Mayor Lucy Jonson, San Marcos Chamber of Commerce President Brian Bondy, NCF Farm Team Public Relations Kayla Royal, PLC-1 Director Rhea Medina, PLC-2 Representative Jose Sarraco, PLC-3 Director Melissa Valdez, PCA Coordinator Hope Henry, Deputy Director Nathalene Pena, Center Director Lonnie Hall, Regional Operations Director Dorothy Mitchell, and student executives.  Job Corps works for taxpayers, employers, communities, and at-risk youth.
