SFC Scott Leslie of the U.S. National Guard, gave an out-standing speech about leadership and how important it is for the local community and local business to support Glenmont Job Corps students and be positive role models.

The guests included representatives from local law enforcement, State University of Albany, U.S. National Guard, Health Care Industry, One Stop, Workforce Development Board and more. We were especially delighted to have Mr. John Clarkson, Bethlehem Town Supervisor, Mr. Michael Gray, Senator Gillibrand’s aide and Ms .Amanda Vennard, Senator Breslin’s aide in attendance. Brandon Krenzer, GJCC Security/MilCap student spoke eloquently about his life experiences before entering Job Corps, his experiences here and his future plans.

Guest were treated to a beautifully presented and delicious breakfast prepared by GJCC Chef Kashona Johnson. GJCC Culinary students, under the direction of Chef Paul Carter did an excellent job setting up for the event and serving the food. After the meeting many of the guests toured GJCC and expressed their gratitude for the breakfast, the tour and the opportunity to learn more about GJCC and our students. They enjoyed meeting instructors and students, and seeing the dorms and recreation center. Many great connections were made at the meeting and these connections will develop into more excellent opportunities for our students to participate in community service, work based learning placements and employment opportunities.
