Glenmont Facility Maintenance Students Remodel Bathrooms

Facility Maintenance instructor, Mr. Bartley, reports that his students have been gaining hands-on experience as they work on remodeling the bathrooms in the Technical Building. FM students gutted both the boys and girls restrooms and remodeled them completely.  They painted the walls, added all new tiles, installed new toi-lets and faucets and hung new mirrors. Joshua T. Graham of Poughkeepsie, NY expressed his gratitude for the quality hands on experience he is getting at Glenmont Job Corps Center. “I had a good time with getting hands-on experience in basic plumbing, putting down ceramic tiles and painting. Putting in the toilets seemed simple at first, but then I saw how important it is to be accurate with details so they operate correctly. I hope to use these skills to build my own house some-day.” said Joshua. He has been at GJCC for about five months now and he shared that he encourages his fellow students to take ad-vantage of the great opportunities here. He said,” Sometimes students listen better to other students because we are living the same thing.” It seems like everywhere you go on center you see our Facility Maintenance students working to improve our center. We thank Mr. Chestnut, Mr. Bartley and all the FM students for making our center a better place to live, study and work!
