Emeritus Assisted Living Hires HJCA Graduate

Myeshia Gaither-West says her family and friends never thought she would live to see her own 18th birthday.  After almost reaching rock bottom, and with the support of her grandmother, Myeshia reached out a HJCA admissions counselor with the goal in mind of obtaining her high school diploma and career training.  Myeshia was not used to abiding by anyone else’s rules so adjusting to the structured environment of Job Corps was a challenge.  Eventually, when Myeshia realized that the structure came with support, she decidedly began getting more focused making responsible decisions that allowed her to graduate not only with her high school diploma and her Connecticut Nurse Assistant Certification, but also a full time job as a C.N.A. at Emeritus Assisted Living in South Windsor, CT.  Myeshia can now afford her own apartment and car, has planned her first vacation, and is looking to begin college next semester to become a registered nurse.  Myeshia continues to stay focused on her future and away from the negative influences of her past, and says she recommends Job Corps to anyone looking to make it in the real world.
