Guam – Former Guam resident Melody Cayabyab Santos completed training in Finance and Business Administration through the United States Department of Labor’s Pacific Education Foundation. Santos’ three-month training program earned her the experience necessary to successfully gain employment with Next Generation Information Integrators, LLC.

“The Hawaii Job Corps (Maui) gave me the opportunity to take on challenges, learn to become independent and truly realize that hard work and dedication can lead to success,” Santos said. “The Job Corps program gave me experience, self confidence and determination.”

The Job Corps program is intended for young adults who meet the Department of Labor ‘s low-income guidelines. While on the Center, trainees take part on academic, career, work-based learning and life skills which promotes employability skills. It may take 18-24 months for a trainee to complete his/her chosen career.

“There are so many opportunities opening up for our young people everywhere,” Governor Calvo stated. “Melody’s success should set an example for the next generation of professionals. She gained experience, knowledge and most of all, the kind of confidence that will see our young people succeed.”

Job Corps is the nation’s largest residential training program serving young adults between the ages of 16 and 24 years old. This public-private partnership is one hundred percent funded by the Unites States Department of Labor. The Pacific Education Foundation operates the Hawaii Job Corps of which Guam is a Satellite.
