The Gate River Run was first held in 1978, it was formally known as the Jacksonville River Run. The race is an annual 15K road running event held in the River City. It is one of the premiere running events in America. This year was the 42nd anniversary fir the event. The Jacksonville Job Corps Center has volunteered with the event for the last 5 years. This years race was held March 7th in downtown Jacksonville.

The volunteer project is an amazing opportunity for the students and staff to give back to community. The volunteers spent hours stuffing packets for over 20,000 runners for the race over a two day period. Student did an amazing job representing the center. Ms. Joann Manning and Jenna Joyce were the staff members volunteering with the students. The volunteers provided nearly a 100 hours of volunteer service.
