Security Students Learn How to Extinguish a Fire with the help of Safety Officer Morgan McFarland

There are several things to remember when using a fire extinguisher, Safety Officer Morgan McFarland told a group of Security Students on May 18.

To make that easier, she asked each of them to explain the acronym “PASS.” Student Juwan Hazle knew the answer. “Pull, aim, squeeze, sweep,” he said.

Ms. McFarland was teaching a lesson in fire safety for Security Instructor Charles Betts’ class.

“It’s important for the Security students to learn how to properly put out a fire for many reasons,” Ms. McFarland said. “While they are on the job, it will be their responsibility to know how to prevent, detect and extinguish fires when they occur so that the loss of life and property is reduced.”
