Signing Up for Clubs

Students had their first opportunity to sign up for the Center’s new Student Activities Clubs on April 8.

The clubs are meant to engage students in meaningful activities that they enjoy while also building the community on Center. As the students browsed the tables that were set up in the One Stop and considered the possibilities, they enjoyed

some music, festive decorations and lots of candy.

One of the biggest hits was the Video Gaming Club sponsored by Academic Instructor Tim Kelly. Additionally, the Zumba Club led by Career Preparation Period Advisor April Norman and the Fitness Club organized by Records Officer Ardrenna Dean and Purchasing Assistant Ashley Alexander have more than 40 students participating.

Other students were excited about the opportunity to be introduced golfing through a club sponsored by Academic Instructor Patrick Lacy, Administrative Assistant Wendell Martin Center Life Manager Sinatra Griffin.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to not just teach students the game of golf, but the discipline, integrity and sportsmanship that are inevitably a part of the game,” Mr. Lacy said.

Other clubs include Debate, Checkers, Spades, LGBT, Knitting and Crocheting, Praise Dance, Reading, Glee and Jewelry Making.
