The Culinary Arts Students Cook for the Department of Labor

The Culinary Arts students catered an event on July 11 hosted by the Department of Labor.

Culinary Arts Students Ivan Garcia, Deandre Reyez, Markeyta Bowen, Sherman Williams III and Tiffani Chambliss traveled to the Federal Office Building in Chicago to prepare the food for more than 100 federal workers who were attending their annual awards ceremony. The menu included a varied selection of appetizers, including tomato bruschetta, citrus crab salad in cu-cumber cups, asparagus with toasted sesame mayonnaise, house marinated olives, traditional cheese plates and traditional fruit plates.
The students served rich chocolate brownies, their famous peanut butter cookies and traditional French vanilla cream puffs for dessert.

The students began preparing for the trip early in the morning on Monday and worked throughout the day. They set up tables, plated the items, served the guests and cleaned up. Their hard work and dedication did not go unnoticed. Thony Martino, regional director of Job Corps, commented that the guests were very appreciative, and many of the guests thanked the students for their work, adding that the food was delicious.
