Media Post – Congressman G.K.Butterfield visits Kittrell JCC

On November 25, 2011 a news article was published in the Henderson Daily Dispatch regarding  a center visit and tour from Congressman G.K. Butterfield. November 8, 2011 Congressman G.K. Butterfield visited, toured and attended Kittrell Job Corps Center Industry Council meeting. He was on the agenda and spoke concerning  job training, workforce development and general job creation to the members of Kittrell Job Corps Center Industry Council and Community Relations Council partners,  management staff and members of the student government association. After Butterfield spoke, Bill Edwards Henderson-Vance Chamber of Commerce President spoke on behalf of future funding for Job Corps. Others members of Kittrell Job Corps Center Industry Council and Community Relations Council including;  Henderson Mayor James O’Geary, Terry Garrison Vance County Commissioner, Sara Coffey Henderson City Councilwoman, Stuard Litvin Vance County Economic Director and Henderson City Councilwomen Brenda Peace-Jenkins shared that without Job Corps, any young people in the area would be High School dropouts and unprepared for the workforce. They also spoke on behalf of Kittrell Job Corps contributions to the community and employers that work closely with the students.
