A news article was published in the Henderson Daily Dspatch on October 28, 2011 regarding Kittrell Job Corps Center particating in the National Make A difference Day on October 22, 2011. Students and staff volunteered to help an estimated 500 or more people in need of food, clothing, shelter, care and love. The day’s activities included tutoring and mentoring special needs kids at the Vance County Learning Center, sponsored fundraisers for the Vance County Chapter of the America Cancer Society, Haiti Emergency Food Drive and cloths drive for the Salvation Army and lifeline Women Shelter. Students and staff also beautified the lawn and garden at the Lifeline Women Shelter by planting mums and panies, raked lawn and removed debris.
