Little Rock Job Corps Shows “Compassion”
February 29th, 2012
The Little Rock Job Corps Center and The Little Rock Compassion Center ( http://lrcompassioncenter.org/press_release.php) have formed an Outreach partnership. Every Last Monday of each Month the Little Rock Job Corps Culinary class and Student Leadership Organization goes the Compassion Center which feeds and serves the homeless.
The Culinary class cooks two meals lunch and preps dinner for serving. “The amazing thing is that at the same time my student’s are learning to give of themselves, they are also gaining valuable culinary experience,” said LRJCC Culinary instructor Chef Javon Heard. Eventually, the Student Leadership will turn over the reins of serving and cleaning as well. Chef Heard is eager for this to become an independant Culinary venture. The Student Leadership, will be moving their Outreach efforts to the Arkansas Food Bank, starting next week. Stay tuned…
