Los Angeles Job Corps Success Story

Agnes Martinez is a Vice President and Operations Manager at JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. responsible for managing the Global Trade West Coast Division. Her primary focus is managing the day to day activities associated with Global Trade particularly Letters of Credit.
Prior to joining JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. Agnes worked at HSBC as supervisor of the letter of credit issuance department. She is the Chair person for BAFT-IFSA South West Region Letter of Credit committee which she Co-Chaired for two years. Part of her responsibility as chair is to conduct monthly meetings whereby issues and trends in the industry are discussed. She is also responsible for planning and facilitating the annual BAFT West Coast Trade Finance Workshop.
Agnes is a former student of Job Corps. graduated from the BRAC program which is now the TCU/IAM program which was a 2 years program that she completed in 1 year and got her GED.
What brought Agnes to Job Corps was the need to acquire quality training so as to get a job to support herself and her son as she was single parent at a very young age. She saw Job Corps as a vessel to aid her get out of poverty.
After graduating from Job Corps, Agnes was employed as a clerk typist at Republic International Bank which was later purchased by HSBC. Agnes quickly moved up the ranks and became a supervisor at HSBC two years later after being hired.
After raising her children, Agnes went back to college five years ago to continue her education. She graduated last year with her MBA from Keller School of Management- DeVry University.
Agnes is a mother of two and enjoys giving back to her community by volunteering for different community events.
