Cut Throat Kitchen – NH Job Corps Culinary Competitors Battle it Out!

The Culinary Arts students participated in their own version of Cut Throat Kitchen this week. The challenge: create a flavorful pasta dish creatively, and watch out for your fellow competitors! Students battled for the proper utensils, cookware, and yes, even ingredients to create their culinary masterpieces.

Each student started with 10 tickets and had to trade the tickets in for the knives, cutting boards, pans, and fresh ingredients like tomatoes, peppers, onions, steak tips, and leeks.

They chopped, diced, sautéed, blended and mixed to make their own take on a delightful pasta dish. The result? Creative problem solving and artful cooking while under pressure yielded some unique and tasty dishes.

It was a tough call but Ms. Coyne and Chef Zingales determined the winners: Felecia took 1st place with her warm pasta dish featuring a zesty orange, Jordan came in 2nd Place with her tangy pasta salad, and Sabrina took 3rd place with her subtle pasta salad.

Chef Zingales empasized that while these events are a fun experience for students, the real focus is on reinforcing skills learned in the kitchen; “To truly be a great chef you need to first be able identify the tools of the kitchen”

Culinary Competitors included:
Mateo Acevedo Rodriguez, Asa Anderson, Tyshawn Bacchus, Joseph Contreras, Thomas Cunningham, Felicia Defrancesco, Jordan Engelbach, Roberto Garcia, Sabrina Hooker, Travis Plourde, Tiffani Rechkemmer and Tristen Wescott
