Young Ambassador Chef’s Cook for Charity!

Miami Job Corps Culinary Arts students volunteered at the Camillus Center in Downtown Miami on February 2, 2012.  Camillus House is a non-profit that provides shelter, rehabilitation services and food relief to thousands of men, women and children who are poor and homeless. Camillus House has been serving the community since its inception in 1960. It also stands as one of the largest relief centers in South Florida. The charity benefits from monetary aid and from donations such as food, clothing, furniture and medical equipment.  Camillus has high profile sponsors such as Publix Supermarkets, Norwegian Cruise Lines, CHASE Banks, AT&T, Barry University, Wacovia and Health Foundation South Florida who’ve provided generous charitable support, and Miami Job Corps is proud to have been a Volunteer partner since 2004!  For the MJCC Culinary student’s volunteer project, the day was spent preparing meals for the Soup Kitchen, and later serving the food to hundreds of homeless clients who came through the center.  In addition to the hands on experience, the students gained credit for the Miami Job Corps-Job Shadow 2012 challenge!  Thanks to our Young Ambassador Chefs (Y.A.C.) for giving back & making a difference!
