Milwaukee Job Corps Center works with the City of Milwaukee to create an Urban Garden

The Milwaukee Job Corps Center in cooperation with several of our community partners, Havenwoods Economic Development Corporation, Milwaukee Urban Gardens, and Kompost Kids, was approved by the City of Milwaukee to create a raised garden bed on a plot of land owned by the city along the northeast corner of the Milwaukee Job Corps Center. The Milwaukee Job Corps Center’s Green Team gained experience last year by creating an urban garden on our center. The center Food Service Manager was able to use the produce from the garden in the cafeteria. The Green Team, along with community volunteers and local businesses will be building the garden beds, planting and maintaining the community garden. The goal of this project is to further urban garden development in the city of Milwaukee. Through this project the immediate community can learn how to grow produce and care for the garden. The community and center are looking forward to the partnership that will transform this corner into a beautiful and prosperous urban garden.
