MJCC Christmas Party Recap

Greenville, KY

MJCC enjoyed what many were saying was one of the more entertaining staff holiday parties hosted by the Center’s HR department and holiday party committee. Approximately one hundred and twenty of MJCC staff attended the afternoon event filled with multiple fun activities.

The planning committee which consisted of Lori Holloway, Monica Gunterman, Shannon Gorham, Julie Gillette, Ashley Thompson, Pennylee Kimbley, Krista Stewart, and Matt Osborne took the time and planned the event that all were pleased with. Gillette said, “This committee was in full blown Christmas spirit and it made the planning very easy.”

This year the committee was fortunate enough to give away seventy-one gifts and door prizes.  Thompson helped in the shopping and purchasing of the gifts. She said, “This was a fun challenge in trying to find gifts in a wide variety that would please all.”

Glen Wabnitz, MJCC welding instructor, brought a little more to the party than just himself. Wabnitz, Jake Carson, and Zach Fibbert welded six different medal art structures which were donated as part of the giveaways MJCC party. Wabnitz said, “Using his talent to make Christmas presents was enjoyable.”

The event was catered by the local restaurant “IDK.” Turkey and ham with all the fixings had everyone stuffed.  If the show Hee Haw was still running, Grandpa would most definitely have been talking about this meal.

The upcoming and very talented local musical artist, 16 year old Courtney Pevler, held the entire room’s attention with some great music.

Another event thoroughly enjoyed by staff was the bake off contest. Staff submitted their own baked treats to compete with one another. Trindle Gott, one of the Centers’ café cooks, brought home first place in the cookie division. While Christy Shemwell, showed that she was much more than a Career Services Counselor with winning first place in the cake submission as well as first place the pie division.

One of the last events was the always popular service awards.  Stephanie Baize, Crystal Chandler, and Christy Shemwell received the five year award. Jerry Ford and Mark Shepherd both have ten years with MJCC. Gavin Gorham with 15 years, Billy Leggs with 20 years, and Mike Evitts with 25 years were for service. The high lights of the service awards was Ty Phelps with 40 years of service to MJCC.
