Muhlenberg Job Corps Eva Morales-Andino Finds Her Passion

A work-based learning internship at an area assisted living facility has flamed a passion for the medical field in Muhlenberg Job Corps student Eva Morales-Andino.

Her experience working with senior citizens at The Courtyard assisted living facility in Central City, KY, “has helped me decide I want to be in the medical field,” Morales-Andino said. Now she’s preparing to enroll at Madisonville Community College and is contemplating a career as an occupational therapy assistant or a registered nurse.

Since coming to Muhlenberg Job Corps in June 2017, Morales-Andino has obtained her high school diploma and earned certifications for both Certified Nursing Assistant and Medical Office Support. Additionally, she says Job Corps has helped her gain maturity and self-discipline and has given her direction in her life.

During her work-based learning assignment at The Courtyard, Morales-Andino helped facilitate activities to help residents maintain healthy lifestyles by encouraging movement and socialization with their peers. Her responsibilities ranged from leading exercise classes and helping residents work on jigsaw puzzles and make cookies to assisting with serving lunch, maintaining cleanliness in public areas and doing laundry.

This valuable on-the-job experience coupled with the rigorous job training she received at Muhlenberg Job Corps positions Morales-Andino for a successful future in the medical field.
