New Haven Job Corps Students Participate In Hour of Power

Several students at the New Haven Job Corps Center are participating at the Brennan-Rogers Family Resource Center in their “Hour of Power” under the guidance of Ms. Lensley Gay, who is the Site Coordinator for the State Department of Education at Brennan- Rogers Family Resource Center. The the New Haven Job Corps students were asked to return for a second year of tutoring third, fourth and fifth graders at the school. “I love working with kids”, said Emmanuel Estrella, C.N.A student at the New Haven Job Corps Center. “It’s fun to help the kids, I really enjoy this. After putting in a full training day, New Haven Job Corps students walk down to the neighboring school to assist students during their “Hour of Power”. Focus is on completing the days assigned homework, and assisting with reading, math, and any other task the young students may require.
