Northlands Might Need a New Bell of Success

Northlands’ Bell of Success has gotten a workout recently. After the two latest honorees, it’s possible that the bell might be in need of repair.

Auto Technology students Dayna Bourassa and Daniel Fitzroy gave the bell some punishment as they headed off to Utah for Advanced Training. Dayna will be studying Advanced Auto Body while Daniel will pursue ASE certification for auto repair. Both are considering staying out west to build their careers.

“Advanced Training will give you much more experience,” Dayna said.

“I’m hoping to get ASE certified so I can work at a Toyota dealership,” Daniel said. “That’s my goal.”

Northlands Job Corps Academy in Vergennes, Vermont recently began the tradition of having each student who goes on to Advanced Training ring the old chapel bell.

Each graduate offered advice for students just beginning the program. “It can be challenging,” Dayna said. “Remember that you’re here for a reason. Tough it out and just do it.”

“Stay away from drama, keep your focus and keep your eyes on the prize,” Daniel added. “You may think you know it all, but there is always so much more to learn.”
