NORTH TEXAS JOB CORPS GRADUATE NOW IN APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM

William Martin graduated from the North Texas Job Corps on March 18, 2020, was hired by the Rock Solid Masonry Co. in Louisville, KY making $15 per hour.  Martin is in the Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers Local 4 – Indiana and Kentucky Bricklaying apprenticeship program.  William is on track to become a journeyman bricklayer.  The annual salary range for bricklayers is $41,000 – $71,000.

The apprenticeship is a four year program that combines classroom and shop time with on-the-job experience.  Apprentices start at 50 percent of a journeyman’s pay and receive benefits, including medical insurance and participation in the pension program.  Pay increases proportionately as apprentices progress through the program.  Apprentices also earn an associate degree through Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana.

Martin’s future goal is to run his own business, perhaps partnering with a friend or family member.
