Job Corps SGA addresses community need

On Thursday afternoon, November 17, 2011, Old Dominion Job Corps SGA members presented 60 frozen turkeys and all the fixings for Thanksgiving dinner to families at the Salvation Army on Park Avenue in Lynchburg, Virginia.  The SGA members raised over $600 by selling pizzas in the student store and donations from community members who attend functions on the ODJCC campus.  President of the Student Government Associaiton at Old Dominion Job Corps Joshua Robinon said “We want to give back to the community that supports us.  In these tough economic times we felt helping families have a good Thanksgiving would be a great way to do this.”  The students volunteer for numerous community based organizations throughout the year but always look forward to Thanksgiving and giving to the families.  Last year they donated 20 turkeys.  This year was triple that number as well as all the holiday fixings.
