Coach Paul Keezer would like to update the Penobscot community on the record setting performance by our student athletes this season. The Penobscot Job Corps Academy Men’s Basketball Team has surpassed all other teams in recording their 19th win this season. To be able to win in any sport the amount of wins, (19) has to go down has one of the top performances of all time here at the Academy. I have met with the Eastern Maine Community College (EMCC) Head Basketball Coach several times now and he has shown a great interest in our team. He was in attendance last night as we recorded our 19th win of the season beating a tough C.S Unlimited team, 95-69. The Coach for EMCC has asked me to bring over Dazure Prado, Brandon Andrews and Chris Greene this week to attend a 2nd meeting with him at the EMCC College basketball game on Thursday as they play host to Fort Kent.

We have had a couple of milestones reached this year so far on this team.

Dazure Prado –  A.) Dazure was approached and interviewed by the Head Basketball Coach at EMCC College to play at the College level.  B.) Dazure has set a single season record for rebounds by a Job Corp athlete. Avg-14 per game, over 27 games.  C.) Dazure has surpassed ( 400 ) Points so far this season.

Brandon Andrews– A.) Brandon was also approached and interviewed by the Head Basketball Coach at EMCC College to play at the next level.  B.) Brandon is closing in on the (250) point mark and is 2nd in rebounding, Avg 13.5 per game.

Chris Greene– A.) Chris is closing in on the (400) point mark and is only 11 points away.  B.) Chris is the leading assist leader with an amazing (9.0) Avg per game.  C.) Chris was also approached by the EMCC Coach and was told he too could play college basketball.

Balancing education and sports is a hard process but one that we have achieved. I am very proud of the work these student  athletes have put forth so far and I hope they will be an inspiration for other students to follow.  Coach Paul Keezer.
