Pittsburgh Job Corps Center

Heavy Equipment Student Accepted into Apprenticeship

February 26th, 2013

Tim Grasinger graduated from High School in 2010. He enrolled with the Pittsburgh Job Corps on July 13, 2010.  Tim started in the Health Occupations program but decided that his interest really lied in working in a job where he would be able to be outside all day. He started in the Heavy Equipment Operators program. Even though he had gotten some seat time on equipment, he did not apply to the Apprenticeship Program that year.

Tim was a quiet individual and lacked confidence. As his second year at Job Corps proceeded, it was rewarding to watch the change in his personality and to watch him become a leader. The other operators that had less time in the program than Tim would us him as their “go to” guy.

In the Spring of 2012, Tim applied for acceptance into the Apprenticeship program. He did a great job on the interview and was accepted. He has been working steadily ever since and loves teh work he does. He does not mind the travel to various locations and enjoys working on new projects.
