SJCC Starts Student Chapter for National Association of Home Builders

The Student Chapter was started in Oct of 2012 to provide student leaders the opportunity of a higher exposure in the Building Industry, exposure to its newest technology, and to meet the people that are making it happen.  We have guest speakers at all the meetings that are influential in the Building Industry.  Current undertakings include a field trip/workday at CRC for the “Solar Suitcase”.  This will be used in developing nations to provide emergency lighting, and power source, for medical centers.  Current board members are John Harrell, president, Michael Hampton treasurer, Jason Stamps, secretary, and John Stiff, Faculty Advisor.  Meeting are held the third Tuesday of the month at 3:45 in the Carpentry Shop.  The Student Chapter is open to trainees from all Construction Trades who want advanced opportunities in their Construction Careers.
The Chapter is sponsored by the North State Building Industry  Association which pays all membership fees to The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
