Shriver lending a helping hand

Shriver lending a helping hand

This whole week, the Shriver Paint Students and their instructor, worked on painting Grafton’s Wellness suite. The wellness suite was badly damaged due to a sprinkler head letting loose in the dorms above, so the path of least resistance led the water to flood the suite below. Grafton does not have a paint shop of their own, but Grafton’s Center Director, Ms. Colleen Lanza knows the value of having Shriver’s resources available to help out.
Shriver’s Painting Instructor, Mr. Yost, had been looking to take on a project at Grafton just before this incident had happened, so all of the painter’s were more than happy to pitch in and paint at Grafton. Ms. Lanza had Grafton’s Maintenance Manager, Mr. Will Diaz get in touch with Mr. Yost about Painting the wellness suite. After having a look and determining that the project was well within the Paint shops capabilities, they set a start date for February 1st.
The Paint Students were able to accomplish everything within the scope of their work in a professional manor, and brought the Job in on time. They learned valuable lessons in estimating materials properly, material consumption, and time management. Also this was a straight forward, text-book painting project, and it was important for the students to be part of a project like this, outside of their own center. So the Shriver Paint Students were glad to participate, and walked away with gained experience, and lessons learned.
